Pumpkins, Tomatoes, and The Largest Apple!

The weather this weekend is going to be perfect for apple picking! We are almost sold out of our Jonagold apples, so if you were still wanting to pick some of these crunchy, sweet, classic apples, make sure to come soon before they are gone for the season!

We have pumpkins galore still looking to be rescued from our patch! We have two patches this year and the first patch you come across has our decorative pumpkins. Yes! Some of those fancy decorative pumpkins can still be found! Behind the tomatoes you will find our second pumpkin patch overflowing with classic orange pumpkins that are perfect for carving! Pumpkins are 35 cents per pound for classic orange, and 45 cents per pound for decorative colors.

We still have Tomatoes! Our slicers are pretty much picked and done, but we do still have Romas. They do take a bit more searching, but can be found! Check with an Orchard Attendant to find the best spots in the tomato patch to search.

Also, The first week of The Largest Apple Contest is finished Monday morning, so make sure to come hunt down those monster apples and get entered in the contest!

Cripps Pink, Braeburn, and More!

It's back!! The Largest Apple Contest is here! This year, instead of only having one winner at the end of the month, we are going to have a winner every week in October! We will announce the winner of the week every Monday starting on October 18th. The contest winner every week will receive TWO FREE BUCKETS OF U-PICK APPLES! The contest is judged by weight of the apple and the apple has to have been found in our orchard. We have a scale at the stand so make sure to stop and have your Largest Apple recorded to be entered to win the weekly prize!
This week is very exciting because ALL of our fall apples have ripened at once! That means, no matter what apple you find in the orchard, it is Ripe and Ready! Some rows are empty, so make sure to pick on the rows with our Green Beilke Signs.
Apples that were added this week:

Cripps Pink!! - More commonly known as Pink Lady. These fall apples are a super fun, crunchy, sweet-tart apple. They are fantastic for baking pies, applesauce, and eating. They always go fast, so don't miss this one!
Braeburn - Our sweetest of the fall apples. Great for baking, applesauce, and eating.
Goldrush -  A favorite on the farm! This apple is our best apple for cider making. It is more on the tart side with a bit of sweetness. It is super crunchy but also super juicy. Makes great pies, applesauce, and great for eating. A must try!
Grannysmith - Classic pie apple! Tart and crunchy, and develops sweetness when baked.

All four of these Apples are also great for storing!
Pumpkins are in the patch waiting to be discovered! Remember we have two patches this year, and the second patch behind the tomatoes is overflowing with classic orange pumpkins!
Tomatoes are still Ripe and Ready as well!

Pumpkin Hunting!

We have great pumpkin hunting weather this weekend! This year we have two pumpkin patches. The first patch you will come across is full of our fun colorful decorative pumpkins. Just past the first patch, behind the tomatoes, is our second secret patch! It is FULL of larger classic orange pumpkins that are waiting to be taken home and carved! Make sure to venture out to the secret patch to see what gems you can find! Pumpkins are 35 cents per pound for classic orange, and 45 cents per pound for colored designer pumpkins.
This week our Fuji and Rome Beauty have ripened! Fuji is a crisp classic apple that is great for eating, pies, and applesauce. When made into applesauce it almost tastes like it already has some spice in it! Rome Beauty are a beautiful red apple and are wonderful for baking, especially baking apples whole. Fuji and Rome are also our first two storing apples to ripen this season. If stored correctly they can last 3-6 months!
This brings our Ripe Apple total to 11! With this many varieties ready you are sure to find the perfect apple!
