Winter Storing Apples

We are down to the last couple weeks of the season. We still have lots of apples ready to be picked in the orchard!
During this time of the season, every apple that is ready to be picked is a winter storing apple. That means, if stored properly, they can last for 3-6 months. The best way to store these apples is in a cool dark place. Think root cellar. Well, many of us do not have root cellars, so the best alternative would be in a spot in a cool garage where it won't be getting hit by the light from a window everyday. We have gotten feed back that a garage fridge is a decent spot as well but moisture in a fridge can make them last closer to the 3 month mark instead of the 6 month mark.
Tomatoes, Flowers, and Pumpkins are all done for the season and we have already started planning on expanding our inventory of those for next year.
Tomorrow is daylight savings and that means our hours will be adjusting ever so slightly. Starting Sunday, November 6, we will be open until 5pm instead of 6pm.
